MUHAMMAD’S TEACHINGS TO MANKIND

ḤADĪTH OF THE DAY

“ The Messenger of God, peace and blessings of God be upon him, said, "Son of Adam, if you spend your surplus [wealth] it will be better for you, if you retain it, it will be harmful to you. You will not be blamed for keeping what meets your needs. Begin [charity] with your dependents; and the upper hand is better than the lower hand1." Footnotes: 1- The upper hand refers to the one that gives; the lower hand is the one that begs. ”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ وَأَبُو السَّائِبِ سَلْمُ بْنُ جُنَادَةَ قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِى بُرْدَةَ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَبِى بُرْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِى مُوسَى عَنِ النَّبِىِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَالَ مَنْ حَمَلَ عَلَيْنَا السِّلاَحَ فَلَيْسَ مِنَّا. قَالَ وَفِى الْبَابِ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ وَابْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ وَأَبِى هُرَيْرَةَ وَسَلَمَةَ بْنِ الأَكْوَعِ. قَالَ أَبُو عِيسَى حَدِيثُ أَبِى مُوسَى حَدِيثٌ حَسَنٌ صَحِيحٌ.
